Of Mice and Men: a look into the relationships in the book.Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck is a short book that displays numerous forms of interactions with other individuals and different types of relationships. Lennie, George, Candy, and Slim reveal the most friendship within the unique, and they assist each other through tough times. The relationship that is most common through out the book is that in between George and Lennie. George is constantly helpful to Lennie, in almost all situations. We initially see this in the beginning of the story when the two of them are at the pond, and Lennie bends over to drink the unclean water.”‘Lennie!’ he said sharply. Lennie, for God’sakes don’t consume a lot. […] You gon na be sick like you was last night.'(3 )” This shows that George truly takes care of Lennie’s well-being; he does not desire him to become ill. In the bunkhouse, George was telling Slim about the relationship that he and Lennie utilized to have, when George liked to play tricks on him. “I used to have a hell of a great deal of enjoyable with’im. Used to play jokes on ‘im ’cause he was too dumb to know. […] Inform you what made me stop that. One day a lot of guys was standin’around up on the Sacremento River. I was feelin’ pretty clever. Relationships play a big function in Of Mice and Male. The bond between George and Lennie is unlike any other, and is the most important in the story. There are other essential relationships through out the novel, such as those between Sweet and his dog and Curley and his partner.
